Features of the Child Skill Detail Report
This report is a one-stop spot providing in-depth information about all things Ignite by Hatch™ for every child in your classroom/program! The Child Skill Detail Report includes progress within each Domain/Subdomain and skill, time spent playing, as well as each child’s drawings, writing samples, an example of the child’s avatar creation, and their profile details.
1. Subdomains shown on the report
The subdomains displayed are based on the child’s grade level and goal. Subdomains whose first skill level is higher than the child’s goal will not appear.
For example, a Pre-K 4 child will not see the Reading → Comprehension – Fiction subdomain because its first skill level is 5, which is a Kindergarten level. If the child completes their Pre-K goal and progresses into Kindergarten skill levels, the Kindergarten subdomains will then appear.
For detailed lists of subdomains by grade, see:
2. Skill level bars
The skill level bars include all twelve Ignite skill levels for each subdomain. When the page loads, only the most grade-appropriate levels are shown. You can use the arrows to view additional levels.
If a subdomain does not include all twelve levels, the missing levels will appear with dark grey shading.
3. Gold dot and black flag indicators
The gold dot shows the child’s starting skill level in Ignite, which is determined by their grade.
The black flag shows the first skill level the child demonstrated. If a child does not show the skills expected at their starting level, Ignite will move them to a more foundational level. In that case, the black flag will appear on a lower level than the gold dot.
4. Viewing skill descriptions
To view descriptions for the skills the child has demonstrated and the skills they will attempt next, select SHOW (located below Demonstrated and Up Next).
5. Viewing progress in English or Spanish
You can view the child’s skill progress in English or Spanish. The report defaults to the language set for the child in Ignite. Teachers, administrators, and families can switch languages to view progress in either one.
6. Guided Practice indicator
Children entering Guided Practice are shown with purple shading. After completing the Guided Practice experience, they return to the Core experience, and the shading will change back to green, orange, or red, depending on their performance.
