The Intervention Needed Report helps educators identify skills that children continue to struggle with in Ignite.
The skills shown on this report are not skills a child missed only once. These are skills where a child has already received extra support through Ignite’s Guided Practice experience but is still having difficulty showing they understand the skill.
This may mean the child needs additional support from an educator or caregiver. The report helps you identify children who may need extra help, plan support groups, and decide when a child may need more support than Ignite can provide.

Understanding the Report
The Intervention Needed Report shows skills where children have difficulty making progress.
In Ignite, children must demonstrate a skill before moving forward in that subdomain. If a child does not pass a core Ignite experience, they will have another chance to try. If they continue to struggle, Ignite provides a Guided Practice experience to give them extra support with that skill.
A child appears on this report when they are still struggling after completing Guided Practice and additional attempts in the core experience. Because these children have already received support in Ignite, they may benefit from additional help from an educator or caregiver.
For each skill, you can see:
- How long the child has been working on the skill without showing mastery
- The number of times the child has played the Guided Practice experience
- The number of attempts where the child scored below 80%
- The child’s average score across all attempts for the skill
Ways to Support Children
The report includes several options to help you support children.
Practice the Game
The best way to understand why a child may be struggling with a skill is to preview the Ignite game in Explore Ignite. You can click on the link to play the game yourself or play it with the child to see where they may need help.
Child progress is not recorded when using Explore Ignite.
Mobile Device Note: This feature works best on a laptop or desktop computer. If you use a mobile device, you will see a warning message before opening the game. Select Continue to try the experience. Some iPad devices may not be supported at this time.
Send Practice Home
If an at-home activity is available for the skill, you will see a link to an activity that can be shared with families for additional practice.
Practice in Class
If a classroom activity is available for the skill, you will see a link to an activity to help reinforce learning during class.
View All Attempts
Select View All Attempts to see more details about the child’s performance, including previous attempts and scores for the skill. This information is also available from the Child Skill Detail Report.
When a Child Leaves the Report
When a child successfully demonstrates the skill in Ignite, they will be removed from the Intervention Needed Report. This means they have made progress and no longer need additional support for that skill.
