We recommend approaching self-service Windows 11 upgrade/installation only if you have experience and are comfortable installing and configuring computer operating systems.

To determine your Hatch computer's Windows 11 hardware compatibility follow the steps outlined by Microsoft by using the PC Heath Check App
Additionally, you can contact Hatch Customer Support with specific device information such as serial number, order number or invoice number. If you are unable to retrieve this information, contact us while in front of the powered on device and we will be happy to guide you through checking.
Obtain a license and installation media for Windows 11. Microsoft and it's approved retailers offer the ability to purchase Windows 11 licenses in many ways from brick and mortar retail to OEM distribution channels.
*note: some Hatch computers may require a BIOS/firmware update to Support Windows 11 installation. See below.

We recommend following Microsoft's published Windows 11 installation methods
Windows 11 can be installed from the Windows 10 OS environment via executable file/media, Windows Installation Assistant, or via bootable media among other methods.
Accessing the Hatch computer BIOS:
Some installation methods may require accessing the device BIOS. Hatch's computer BIOS are password protected to prevent accidental modification. The password is 'hcah'

OPS (Open Plug-able System)
A firmware update is required to enable Secureboot and TPM 2.0 prior to Windows 11 installation.

Changing BIOS settings:
Once BIOS/firmware updates have been completed TPM 2.0 and Secureboot must be enabled and CSM (Compatibility Support Module AKA legacy BIOS) must be disabled.
Note: Hatch NUC and OPS computers that shipped with Windows 10 had system disks formatted with MBR disk partition type. Once CSM is disabled you will not be able to boot into Windows 10 and must install Windows 11 as a "clean install" from bootable media. Refer to Microsoft's documentation for Windows 11 installation methods.
