In this article, we will take you through a child's Ignite by Hatch™ journey!
Child Log In
Independence starts before playing and learning even begin! Ignite’s patented login system uses children’s pictures and a two-step authentication process that allows children to log in without the support of a teacher—no need for usernames, passwords, or QR codes! Children simply tap their photo twice, and they're ready to explore!
Buddy Design
The first time children log in to play in Ignite, they are invited to design their very own buddy (avatar).
Child Play Process
Upon completion of their buddy design, children will be introduced to some of our Ignite characters and learn about their goals to collect stars and fix Tob-E’s rocket.
After this, they are welcomed into the first Ignite zone, the Magic Tree House, where they will select the digital experience they want to play. Children are invited to play through three digital experiences, as shown in the following image:
Each digital experience is designed to take 2–5 minutes, which matches the attention span of our young learners. Here are the additional features:
If a child does not submit an answer in a certain amount of time, the instructions will be automatically repeated, providing just-in-time support!
A child can tap their buddy (or any Ignite character) to hear instructions again, providing on-demand support!
When a child gives a correct answer, positive reinforcement is provided. When an incorrect response is submitted, gentle redirection is provided and children are encouraged to try again.
As children complete each digital experience, they earn a star in their star tracker (top-left corner of every Ignite screen). Upon completing a set of three games, they visit the Dressing Room, where they are presented two new gifts from which they can choose for their buddy!
As children complete experiences, they’ll also be making progress toward fixing Tob-E’s rocket and unlocking new zones. When children are done in the Dressing Room, they return to any of their unlocked zones to choose their next digital experience:
Here, you can see the full process and all available zones:
Child Log Out
For the best experience, we recommend that children log out after they have played at least one full set of three games. To log out, children can press the stop sign on the Magic Tree House or any of the other game selection zones they are playing in.
When a child touches the stop sign, they will hear a prompt that says, "If you're sure you want to stop, press the button again." Touching the stop sign a second time logs the child out.
If a child needs to log out during the middle of an experience, they can do so by tapping the stop sign (in the bottom left-hand corner) twice.
If a child stops or logs out in the middle of a game, they will get the chance to replay that game from the beginning when they log in next time.
Is your child getting stuck?
If your child gets stuck during a game, encourage them to try an answer rather than staying inactive. If they are inactive for too long, they will be automatically logged out and will need to restart the game.
If your child plays and does not pass the game, Ignite will present the game again after 36 hours for another attempt. If they do not pass a second time, they will be directed to a guided practice activity for additional support.
Because of this, it is better for children to attempt an answer even if they feel stuck. This helps them avoid being logged out and having to restart the game repeatedly.
