Ignite includes two methods to facilitate closed-captioning for children during gameplay, enhancing accessibility.
Activating Closed-Captioning During Gameplay
Children and educators can activate closed-captioning during play in Ignite by tapping the gear icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
If the game supports closed-captioning, a small toggle will appear to turn it on. Once activated, users can adjust the text size to accommodate the child playing Ignite.
After enabling captions, you can adjust the text size by tapping your preferred size from the examples shown below the slider. Closed-captioning will remain enabled until the next child logs in to play Ignite.
Setting Permanent Closed-Captioning for a Child - change staging images
To ensure that a child always receives closed-captioning during their Ignite gameplay, you can set this preference within the child's profile.
- First, click the gear icon, then tap the numbers in ascending order to access the teacher area.
- Click on the cloud labeled "Manage Children (Add/Edit)."
- Select Edit Child Info.
- Choose the child for whom you want to apply close-captioning settings. On the Edit Child Info page, click the Accessibility button to access the child's accessibility settings.
- Here you can activate closed-captioning and adjust the text size as needed.
These settings will persist whenever the child engages with Ignite.
