Quick Guide: Keyboard Options
Using Keyboard Selections During Gameplay
You can help your child use keyboard selections in applicable games by instructing them to use their arrow keys. When you do this, you will see a colored box outlining an available object, click the up and down arrow or left and right arrows to change which object they're focused on.
For example, in the images below, you can see that by clicking the down arrow, your child can move the selector from the middle image to the bottom image.
To submit an answer or confirm a selection, instruct your child to press the Enter key (on Macs, press Return) or the space bar.
For example, in the images below, you can see that after pressing Enter on the thumbs-down option, the image moves from Tob-E the robot to the space beneath the thumbs-down option.
After submitting an answer, instruct your child to click the arrow keys to see a new selection box.
Drag-and-Drop Games
Drag-and-drop games with keyboard selections work similarly to regular selection games. To select the object they would like to drag, your child should first highlight the object using the arrow keys, then press Enter or Space to confirm the selection and "pick up" the object.
For example, in the images below, you can see that the image selected has been highlighted, and once the child presses Enter or Space to confirm the selection, the image becomes smaller.
After confirming the selection, your child can use the arrow keys to move the object to the correct position.
For example, in the images below, you can see that the child uses the right and down arrow keys to move the image to the correct box.
After your child has moved the object to the correct position, they can press Enter again to submit their answer.
Accessing Settings Using the Keyboard
You can get to the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen by clicking the Ctrl key (on Macs, click Command ⌘ or control).
From here, you can use the arrow keys to control the music volume or turn on closed captioning. To get back to the game, click the Ctrl key again.
